Rebecca Storm, Ireland’s leading lady of musical theatre, the acclaimed star of Blood Brothers, Evita and Les Miserables, makes a very welcome return to Cork City with a concert in The Everyman on Sunday 13 October.
Accompanied by a full band, Rebecca will perform musical theatre classics and personal favourites. An Intimate Evening with Rebecca Storm will include songs from her leading roles in Evita, Les Miserables, Annie, and her anthem tune, 'Tell Me It's Not True' from Blood Brothers.
Over the past thirty years Rebecca has established herself as a hugely versatile star in the West End and Ireland. She is probably best known for her role as Mrs. Johnstone in Blood Brothers, which she first performed in Cork in 1986. Originally cast at age 23, Rebecca was too young to play the Liverpudlian mother of seven, but author Willy Russell was so captivated by her voice that he insisted that make-up artists ‘age’ the young actress. Her portrayal of Mrs. Johnstone has become so popular that she still returns to the role.
Fans of the show will understand when Rebecca says, "Blood Brothers is a very superstitious musical and having been part of it for thirty years, it’s little wonder that some of that has rubbed off. I never put new shoes on the table."
With numerous concerts, radio and TV appearances around the world, Rebecca enjoys a busy and varied career, produced by her husband and musical director, Kenny Shearer.
After many years in London's West End theatre world, Rebecca now lives in Ireland full time where she has the honour of having her handprints set on the famous ‘Gaiety Theatre Walk Of Fame’.
