RECORD FLASHBACK: THE WRONG GIRL ..1985 .. SPIRIT RECORDS..

After her top twenty success with 'The Show', producers tried to mould Rebecca into the similar sound of other chart artists at the time.. In 1986 Rebecca released a single on the record label Spirit, called 'The Wrong Girl' produced by hitmaker Ben Findon, who had many hits with The Dooleys, Billy Ocean and The Nolans.. However Rebecca hated the record and the promotion for it.. Listening to the A side, you would hardly recognise her distinctive voice, as it was over produced..The flip side entitled, 'Swansong', is more to her natural sound.. Unlike 'The Show' , the record was not a success.. Here is a look at the sleeve for it..Rebecca looks a little like Barbara Dickson in this shot! ....

EVENT FLASHBACK : THAT'S SHOWBIZ.. GRAND THEATRE BLACKPOOL.. 1995..

Before becoming Ireland's first lady of musical theatre, Rebecca spent her time threading the boards in the UK, either in top West End shows or appearing in the various seasonal offerings in entertainment spots such as Blackpool.. In 1995 from June to November, Rebecca appeared on the bill of a variety show, playing at Blackpool's lovely Grand Theatre, called 'That's Showbiz', headlined by comedy star Joe Pasquale, and featuring Scotish comedian/singer Allan Stewart, Neighbour's stars and PWL recording artist's Blakeney Twins, Andy Prior and his 13 piece band and illusionist Russ Stevens with The Nicky Hooper Dancers... EVENT FLASHBACK : BLOOD BROTHERS .. GAIETY THEATRE DUBLIN.. VARIOUS DATES!

When Rebecca is not selling out concert and theatre venues around the country and in the capitol, she appears in theatrical productions, most notably in a role that has now become synonymous with her, that of Mrs Johnstone in Willy Russell's now classic musical 'Blood Brothers', that plays to packed houses all over the world, notably London's West-End and Broadway and touring... Every few years Rebecca's returns to the role in a production staged at The Gaiety in Dublin and The Cork Opera House..
                                                    I have attended many performances over the years, here are a few items from the various Gaiety productions... Rebecca hopes to bring the show back in the next couple of years and maybe this time at The Olympia, where she first hit the attention of the Irish theatre going public.. Watch this space!
